A DEI Solution Amidst an Academic Crisis

A DEI Solution was needed during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. Many parents found themselves bewildered by the educational system as schools across the nation temporarily closed their doors at the height of a COVID-19 outbreak.  Fearing their children would suffer academically; many parents sought out opportunities to continue their children’s education as best they could.   YDH Consulting  put many anxious parents at rest; through successful crowdfunding efforts, they quickly raised over $6000 for community children, creating the YDH I.D.E.A Learning Pod. This program gave students a rich educational experience where they engaged in outdoor learning environments using green spaces in the community. The learning pod worked collaboratively with parents and community organizations to provide environmental education, creative and cultural arts, urban gardening, and literacy support.  This DEI Solution created an inclusive program that served students in grades K- 4, including those with different abilities.

Although the pandemic has ended, the need for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has not. As life has shifted back to some level of normalcy, literacy levels, and school attendance continue to be an issue. As a result, many children suffer academically, even in 2024. Families with children do not always have access to the resources to keep their kids academically sharp.  During the pandemic, YDH Consulting created a DEI solution that was accessible to students and their families.  By administering educational resources during a very challenging and uncertain time, many families experienced equitable and inclusive academic solutions amidst an unforeseen crisis. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consist of many layers, and access to a good education is one of them. Sometimes, we have to become the change we want to see. YDH Consulting is in the business of building equitable and inclusive workplaces because everyone deserves a fair chance.
